I was extremely upset with the lack of mediums. It is not that there were not great entrees in other mediums, I know there was, but the judges obviously have their preference with mediums when they judged for it. Sadly they did not say in the contest they were only interested sculpture and digital.
I understand art is always a matter of taste but when a offical DA contest is supposed to represent the the community it should be clear on what those preferences are.
I noticed some people are like "They didn't look at them all...!" In reality, they more than likely did. They wouldn't hold a contest then not look at the entries, that's just stupidity. They probably had a team sift it down to the top 50 entrants then the semi-finalist judges took a hold of that list and looked through it.
Anyway, this was totally fair and these semi-finalists and winners were awesome, in spirit of the movie, and creative. Good job guys!
I didn't cut the list either you don't see me crying :T
That one was mine. Seemed like they didn't like photomanips all that much. Ah well, I just wish I could win even a semi-finalist.
